Aljafería Palace (Zaragoza)
The Aljafería Palace is one of Zaragoza's most emblematic monuments and a jewel of Hispano-Muslim art in Spain. Built in the 11th century as a pleasure palace for the Taifa kings, it stands out for its impressive Islamic architecture and exquisite decoration.
...Inside, the Patio de Santa Isabel stands out, surrounded by arches and plasterwork that reflect the artistic richness of the period. Later, the building was enlarged in the Mudéjar style and, still later, adapted as a palace for the Catholic Monarchs, giving it an extraordinary blend of styles.
Currently, the Aljafería houses the Cortes of Aragon and is one of the main cultural and tourist attractions of the city, essential to understanding the history and artistic diversity of Zaragoza.
